Create Texas Artist Co-op Program

Program Overview:

The Create Texas Artist Co-op Program is a dynamic, six-month commitment designed to support, empower, and elevate artists while fostering a thriving creative community. This program is ideal for visual artists, musicians, writers, and creatives of all disciplines who seek professional growth, collaborative opportunities, and hands-on experience in both gallery and studio settings.

Program Highlights:

Duration: 6-month commitment

Service Requirement: 8 hours of service per month supporting Create Texas initiatives

Benefits: Networking opportunities, skill development, exhibition and performance opportunities, and priority access to Create Texas events and resources

Service Activities:

Co-op members contribute their time and talents through meaningful activities that enhance the operations of Create Texas. Service hours can be completed through a combination of gallery and studio-focused tasks:

Gallery Service Activities:

1. Gallery Sitting & Visitor Engagement:

Greet and engage with visitors, providing information about current exhibitions and featured artists

Answer questions about artworks, artists, and Create Texas programs

Ensure gallery spaces are tidy and presentable

2. Exhibition Installation & Takedown:

Assist with curating, hanging, and arranging artwork for new exhibitions

Handle artwork with care during installation and deinstallation processes

3. Art Sales & Administrative Support:

Support sales transactions and maintain accurate inventory records

Assist with data entry, artist files, and updating mailing lists

4. Event Support:

Help set up and break down events, including exhibition openings, artist talks, and workshops

Provide hospitality support during events (serving refreshments, guiding attendees, etc.)

Studio Workspace Activities:

1. Creative Workshops & Demos:

Lead or assist with art workshops, classes, or live demonstrations for the community

Offer mentorship or skill-sharing sessions with fellow co-op members

2. Studio Maintenance:

Help maintain clean, organized, and safe studio environments

Manage shared supplies and equipment, ensuring proper usage and storage

3. Public Art & Community Projects:

Collaborate on murals, sculptures, or other public art installations supported by Create Texas Assist with outreach efforts, such as art activities at community events or pop-up studios

4. Program Development Support:

Contribute ideas for new programs, exhibitions, or events

Assist in marketing efforts, including social media content creation and promotional activities
